Hey, hi, hello! I’m Malory, the travel lover behind Explore a Little More.
Above all else, I'm a helper. And I love talking travel with anyone who will indulge me. When I realized I could combine these two passions together to help people have an amazing travel experience, I knew I'd found my calling.
Explore the World
I was bit by the travel bug at the age of 17 when my whole family decided to join my grandparents on a trip to China for their 50th wedding anniversary. During that trip, I got my first taste of experiencing another culture (not to mention my first taste of authentic Chinese cuisine), and experienced surreal moments like climbing the Great Wall of China. After that trip, I was instantly hooked on travel. And I knew then that I would spend my time on this planet seeing as many places as I could.
So far, I have taken myself to over 15 countries and I have no plans of stopping. Because travel brings me so much joy, and makes me a better human.
Explore Within
I believe that every time we travel somewhere new, we learn more about ourselves. We step out of our comfort zone and broaden our perspectives through the adventures we have and the people we meet along the way. Through these experiences, we learn more about the world and our place in it. And I believe that these connections is what the world needs more of.
One of the things I’ve learned about myself through travel, is that planning my trips has helped me enjoy them more.
I never used to plan my trips very much. Other than booking my flights and accommodation, I’d only keep a list of things to do for each city I planned on visiting. I’d wake up each day and pick what I wanted to do from that list. The trouble was, I also didn’t research anything about the places before I went. Which means my days often didn’t go as planned.
Like that time I showed up bright and early to buy a ferry ticket to the island of Capri for the day…only to find out they were sold out until late afternoon and had to cut my time on the island short. Or the time I didn’t rent a car on the island of Kauai and hadn’t realized there was practically no public transport...and had to walk for miles and hitchhike to get around. Not to mention all the time I’ve spent during my trips figuring out how I was going to get to my next destination, because I hadn’t done it before I left.
Don’t get me wrong, some of those mistakes have led to some memorable experiences. But I’ve learned through those mistakes. I still leave room in my travel plans for spontaneity, but I plan and research things enough in advance so I’m not wasting my precious time on my trips.
So now I hope to use my passion for travel and planning to help you have the best trip ever.
